Journey to the Cross
Sermon Series during Lent 2020
During Lent - 40 days of penitence and prayer - worshipers are invited
to join a spiritual journey to the cross. The cross is the significant
locale where the sinners have a glimpse of salvation through
Jesus Christ the Son of God who shed his blood to take away
the sins of the world. By his death on the cross Jesus reconciled
his followers with God. Jesus asks the church not only to join
the journey to the cross, but also to carry each one’s cross and follow
him. (Matthew 16:24; Mark 8:34; Luke 9:23) Even Jesus in Luke,
speaks, “Anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot
be my disciple. (Luke 14:33) Through the journey each Sunday,
worshipers will encounter the faithful disciples of Jesus Christ who
followed Him. Come and hear “The message of the cross,” Apostle
Paul wrote, as “foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18)
